#029 — Matches your bank |
|
|
|
New on web, iPhone & Android
Checked against your bank.
Hi there — when Orbiq and your bank disagreed, you used to find out by holding two screens side by side. Now Orbiq checks for you, and tells you where to look. Here's that, and the rest of what's new.

|
01 · Balance check
Does Orbiq match your bank?
Each time a linked account or card syncs, Orbiq now compares its balance with the figure your bank reports. When they agree you get a quiet ✓. When a gap holds for a day, Find it lists the rows most likely behind it — a charge you typed by hand that the bank also sent, an amount with the wrong sign, a hold that never settled — and you decide what to change. For a card that isn't linked, type the closing balance from your statement and Orbiq checks that month against it.

|
02 · Search
Type what you mean
The search box understands a little shorthand now: cat:groceries >50 last:3m, acct:1008, -coffee, is:pending. You don't have to learn any of it — start typing and suggestions write the shorthand for you, and chips under the box show exactly what search understood. A plain word still searches the way it always did, on the web, iPhone and Android.

03 · Adding
One sheet to add a purchase
On iPhone and Android, every way in — the + button, Quick add from your Home Screen, a shortcut — now opens the same sheet. Extra details open in place instead of a three-step wizard, and the amount does sums: type 42.50+18 and it adds them up. No default account set? It picks the one you used last, rather than sending you off to Settings.

04 · Drill down
Every figure opens its rows
Tap a budget's spent figure — by category, tag or merchant — and you see the transactions that make it up. On the web and Android, a card opens its own transactions. And a purchase with a refund linked to it now shows what it actually cost you once the refund came back.

05 · iPhone & Android
Answers without opening the app
On iPhone, ask Siri How much is left in my budget? or what bills are due this week, and Spotlight finds your categories, goals and bills by name. On Android, your budgets and goals show up as launcher shortcuts. With the app lock on, Siri asks you to unlock first and the shortcuts stay hidden. The home-screen widgets were rebuilt too: Budget Pace, Categories, Bills, a Goal you pick, and Needs Attention — plus a Quick Add control on iPhone.

06 · On the web
Any date, typed
Every date on the web now uses one picker: any month of any year is two clicks away, or just type it — -1y, yesterday, 30d, ytd, mar 2025. Your monthly report PDF was rebuilt on the same numbers as your dashboard, and Settings can preview it any time. Keyboard people: ⌘K now creates a budget, bill or account, and n adds one on the page you're on.

|
Also
Three older widgets — Budget Burn, Data Freshness and the medium Split widget — were folded into the new set and disappear when you update, so you may need to place a new one. Adding a charge by hand to an account that syncs now warns you it would count twice. A row you deleted by mistake can be put back from the balance check. Both phone apps got a calmer look with an Ink, Steel or Sand accent, and Settings show their current values at a glance. Plans and prices now live on one page at orbiq.online/pricing.
